I have so many awesome memories growing up from the Advent Season....and, of course, Christmas!
The first thing I think about with Advent is a wreath. Well...we don't have a wreath nor do we have the 3 purple candles and one pink...I am sure one day I will buy all of this...but for this year, I thought it would be fun to make our wreath...and it would be a whole lot safer not having fire with the little one!
Here is our Advent Wreath...made from mine and Zoe's hands. Isn't it cute!?! Every week we add another flame and talk about the meaning and say a prayer. Does Zoe get it....no...but will she remember one day and cherish those memories....YES!
There are also so many great Feast Days to celebrate during the Advent season! December 6th is the Feast Day of Saint Nicholas...did any of you grow up putting your shoes outside for Saint Nick to leave a small gift? I loved this! Even at school, we celebrated Saint Nick by putting our shoes into the hallway and receiving a candy cane every year...I missed this in college :) Today is The Feast of the Immaculate Conception....a very important day to celebrate...without Mary...where would we all be :) On December 12th is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe....a fun day for a Mexican Fiesta to celebrate! December 13 is the Feast Day of Saint Lucy...the Saint I chose on my Confirmation Day....so a very special Feast Day for me :) AND the 25th...Christ's Birth!
Next year, I have so many fun things I want to do with Zoe and Evan to prepare their minds and hearts for Jesus' Birthday....yes, they are young...but I am all about the Traditions!
Even though I know that this season is a time to reflect and prepare for Jesus' Birth...I love many of the secular traditions surrounding this time of year!
What is Christmas without a Tree! My Family has a long time tradition of putting up the Christmas Tree on Christmas Eve and decorating it all together, listening to Christmas music, eating goodies....great memories! But I want to put the tree up sooner than Christmas Eve...so here it is! But we still listen to music and eat :)

Zoe had to give each ornament a hug...she loved them all and pointed to where she wanted us to place each one.
Evan had a blast....as always.
Zoe's 1st Christmas Ornament
And Mommy and Daddy's 1st Ornament...We haven't gotten Evan's yet...but it will be bought and on the tree soon!
One idea I read that I absolutely love is making a gift box for Jesus and placing it under the tree. You cut a slit in the top and place kind words about your family members or talk about kind actions you have seen them do...and on Christmas Eve you read them all together. What better gift to give Jesus then loving one another and it is a great way for the kids (and parents) to be aware of their actions during this time...no one wants to be on the naughty list!
What fun traditions do you do during the Advent Season!?!

I like the box idea. We have been doing something kinda like it with a tree and "fruit" that they place on the tree. Evan looks so different and he is a handsome boy. It is so much fun to see how different a boy looks. I am so looking forward to next week and starting all the Christmas fun!!!
I think it's so precious that Zoe took such a big part in decorating the tree...fun times, great memories and you are spot on to document it all so she can see it one day!
