Update on Baby

I just realized that I hadn't talked about the Baby in awhile and it is much needed.

The biggest change for me, that really changes every week, is my appetite. In the first couple weeks of finding out, I couldn't eat enough. I was starving ALL the time and I felt like I was eating for 10. That has definitely calmed now, but I still have a weird appetite. I now have to eat when Zach wakes up around 5:00...and I mean HAVE TO. Believe me...I just want to keep sleeping, but it is impossible with the hunger pains. Also now, I get full quicker and I can eat more in meals rather than constant snacking. Much more normal. I haven't really had any weird cravings or anything like that. Sometimes though, I get something in my head that sounds so so good and have to have it. Hot chocolate was something last week...with whip cream!

Changes in my body haven't been much. The biggest change for me has been in the girls. There are a lot of things I can't wear anymore because they are so constricting in the bust area...I can barely breathe! Otherwise, I haven't seen much change in my tummy other than it is hard as a rock. I can still wear all the same pants, but dresses have definitely become my favorite thing! I have only had a few nausea spells and headaches. Nothing really to complain about.

Sleeping has become more of an issue as of late. I don't know if it due to boredom or the baby. I have a really hard time sleeping at night between bathroom breaks...which is nothing new...but then I sleep until 10 or 11 which I hate. What a wasted day. I am looking forward to being much more busy this summer and much more active.

I have been exercising regularly, 4-5 times a week on the elliptical or walking around the neighborhood. On the scale at home, I don't think I have gained more than 5 pounds, which I am pretty happy about.

I get a weekly update on my email about the new things going on with the baby. This week, it is the size of a fig, over 1 1/2 inches long. The site says that the baby is moving a ton, is able to open and close it's hands, and is developing it's tooth buds under the gums. It all still amazes me!

I also have gone back to look at old posts on friends' blogs to see if I am going through the same things or not...just to compare. On Candace's, around this time she did a fun experiment to find out the sex of the baby with Draino, before she actually found out at her appointment. The test said she was going to have a girl..and she did. So, I might do it for fun..we will see.

I think that is all for now. Our next appointment is on May 6th. We are just going in to hear the heartbeat and get all the normal things done. Still exciting though :)

Prayer Request

Everyone, please keep The Gilbert Family in your prayers today and in the future. The Gilbert's are a well known family in my St. Piux X High School Community. Margaret and Bob have been part of Pius for a number of years now. Bob is a teacher and coach. Margaret was a swim coach...actually my swim coach, at Piux X as well. They are truly a strong, Christian family and have 4beautiful young girls, Katy, Sara, Jill and Mary Margaret.

Margaret has been battling cancer for the last couple years and is now resting with Our Lord. She passed away this morning.

Please, Please keep this wonderful family with you in this time of mourning.

AMAZED!

This morning watching the Today show, I was completely AMAZED by what our country is coming to....and scared. On the show, they interviewed Miss California because of her recent answer on the Miss USA pageant. Here was the footage from the pageant:

Not only do I agree with Miss California, but I respect her for making that statement and standing up for her Faith. Too many people these days cower away from the Faith they believe in because of what other people will think or say. Watch this...this is the scary part:

It amazes me because...this man....obviously a gay man....supports our President and makes excuses for why it is okay for Our President to have the belief marriage is strictly between a Man and a Woman and that it is a sacred bond but hates this woman, Miss California, for voicing the same beliefs and says that she is not representing our country if she believes this way....HELLO! Then what are you saying about Our President....Shouldn't he be the most important Representation of Our Country....WOW! Once again...It amazes me!

But, this morning, Miss California stood by her response from the pageant after being told by numerous people she should have given a more "middle of the road" response if she wanted to win. She said sometimes it isn't only about winning, that it was more important for her to stand by her Faith. Amen!

Reunion!

Zach and I had a wonderful weekend with friends and family. Thursday, I met Misty and Shawn and the girls at the Cabbage Patch Kids Hospital in Cleveland and then we went into Helen for the rest of the day. It was an absolutely perfect day to be outside. The girls panned for gems and we took a carriage ride around the town. After, Misty and I went to the Outlets and she did a little bit of shopping for the girls. It definitely is tempting to find out the sex of our baby because there is so much cute stuff to buy! But I am holding on strong....I just picture the moment of Zach telling everyone in the waiting room what the baby is. That moment to me far out weighs a couple pairs of clothes (that I honestly shouldn't be buying anyway :) For dinner, we met up with the rest of the family at Taco Mac and enjoyed our favorite wings. Yum Yum.

Friday night, all of our friends from College came into town and Kimberly and Cory had a cookout at their house. Since we all hadn't been together since Kimberly's big news was announced, we all decided to show our excitement for them and have a small diapes and wipes party. You can never have too many! It was so nice spending time with everyone....just like the old days :) This needs to happen more often ladies!

Saturday, Zach, Cory and Rickey installed the new air conditioner at Cory's house and the ladies went out. We went to Joann's and picked out the fabrics for our diaper bags. Zelda makes 2 matching diaper bags for her new grandbabies....I can't wait to see how they turn out! Afterwards, we went and got much needed pedicures.....heavenly!

Saturday night, we met up with everyone again for dinner at Rathbun's in Inman Park. They have an amazing Red Velvet Cake....yummy! Once again, this does not happen often enough! I miss you all so much!

Our First Appointment

Today, we had our first doctor's appointment with our new doc, Dr. Pohl. One of my family friends referred me to him. She has used Dr. Pohl for both her pregnancies and had only great things to say about him...so I felt very confident with using him for my pregnancy. One thing that I really loved about his practice is that he is the only doctor, so it was very one on one. He answered all the questions we had, but I definitely need to write down questions as I think of them. Once we started the ultrasound, I immediately started to tear up. HOW AMAZING! The doctor went through where everything was and pointed out all the main things, like the umbilical cord, the yolk sac, where the arms and legs were, but all I could look at was the beating heart! I don't know how someone doesn't believe in God after seeing something like this. WOW! The other thing I loved was the doctor recorded the whole ultrasound so now we have our first video of the baby. I have already watched it about 10 times. It still blows me away that I have life growing inside me. What a gift! Our next appointment is on May 6th!
The large circle to the right is the baby's head. Then the two smaller circles to the left of the head are the arms and then the abdomen and then the feet. The baby measured 27.1 mm, which was 9 weeks 4 days (right on track) and the heart beat was in the 160s. Perfect!

Home Sweet Home

This past week, Mom, Ms. Brenda and I visited my sister and her family in Virginia. What a great week! Time flew by, but it was so nice to spend time with the girls and catch up with Chrysti. Their house is so nice and spacious. We headed out on Sunday afternoon and stayed the night at Brenda's mother's house in Charlotte. Here is her house.....LOVE IT!

We arrived at Chrysti's Monday afternoon. The girls called every couple minutes as we got closer and closer asking if we were there yet. Shortly after arriving, we headed to swimming lessons. Julie did so great! After putting the kids to bed, we played Quiddler. I love this card game. It is a game where you make words from the letters on the cards. Really fun! Unfortunately, exhaustion hit me pretty hard and I had to take 2 naps on Tuesday to recover from staying up so late the night before.Wednesday we visited Mt. Vernon, George Washington's home and grounds. I love this type of stuff. The tour of the house was so fun. It is amazing how everything was sooo different! The view from the house of the Potomac was gorgeous too (I of course forgot my camera). It was a little chilly and Chrysti and I were beyond exhausted....so after the tour of the house we went to the museum and let the girls play in the children's area and we just sat...it was nice. Needless to say, I went to bed really early that night.

Thursday, Chrysti and I went shopping for a couple dresses she needs for events in May. We first went to The Children's Place.....I cannot wait to shop for our baby! There are so many cute clothes! We found 2 adorable dresses for Chrysti, too! Thursday night, we celebrated Kayley and Ally's birthdays since we won't be able to come to their actual birthday party. Boy do they love opening gifts!
We got Ally Ladybug Pajamas and Beauty and the Beast Polly Pockets.

We got Kayley a Butterfly Bathing Suit and Coverup with flipflops!

Friday came so fast! We went into Washington DC and visited the American History Museum. Since Chrysti has lived up there this museum has been closed for renovations. The museum was unbelievably crowded! Each exhibit had a 30 min or so line....at a museum! It felt like we were at Six Flags or something. My favorite exhibit was The First Ladies. The exhibit displayed famous dresses worn by the 1st Ladies, as well as their shoes or purses or jewelry. It was so interesting and everything was so beautiful!
I don't remember which day, but we also had an Easter egg hunt inside.

Overall, it was a wonderful trip...but I am glad to be back home with my hubby :)

HAPPY EASTER!

Book Worm

One thing that I loved about being a Nanny was reading to the kids! There are such sweet books out there for children. With Sydney and Dakota, we had a routine of reading books before each nap or when we were playing in their rooms. Coming from someone who probably couldn't sit still long enough to hear a full story as a child, I look forward to teaching my little one the importance of reading and having an imagination! I am very interested to see if our child has the same energy both Zach and I had as children, but I am still going to try my best. Here are some of my favorites and some new finds I can't wait to get:

Ones that I found and can't wait to buy!
