Preschool Orientation!

Today we had Zoe's orientation for Preschool!  Holy Cow...this just blows my mind.  My baby is in school and peeing on the potty and talking in full sentences and so not a baby anymore.  Crazy!
Please excuse the lack of great photography...camera phone is all I had!

Zoe is in the 2/3 program this year and her teacher is Ms. Rachel!  I love that she is young and she is so very kind!  I just know Zoe is going to love her.  We practiced Rachel's name the whole way to school this morning and when we got there.  Rachel introduced herself to Zoe said...."Yep, you're Rachel....that's you!"  She was so excited.

Unfortunately, we had a rough night of sleep last night, so Zoe was a little bit more emotional at the parents meeting and really wanting Mommy.  But I think she is going to do just amazing in her little class!  There is a great mix of boys and girls and her buddy, Greggie, is even in her class!

I, of course, signed up for everything and I am so excited to get involved and meet lots of wonderful families at our Church.  Love the fact that our community continues to grow and grow!

Zoe's 1st day is next Tuesday!  I am so excited for this year, but I know there will be a tear or two on Tuesday!

12 Month Check Up

It is still hard for me to believe that Evan is a year old.  This past week, I was gone Sunday-Wednesday and I swear when I got home, Evan grew twice his size.  He looks so big to me!

We headed to GPAM for Evan's 12 month well visit this week.  Evan's development is looking great and Dr. Evans is really pleased with how much he has progressed in his movement since our 9 month check.

Evan weighs 20 lbs (10%).  He is 28 3/4" tall (13%) and his head circumference is 18 1/4" (45%).

Evan does have eczema on his face, but only on his face.  The doctor suggested we treat it with hydrocortizone 1% and aquaphore.  She also recommended we watch for flare ups and try to link what might be causing the dry skin.  She doesn't seem to think it is a food allergy since it is only on his face.  So we are going to try switching detergents to a hypoallergenic and see if that helps.  Luckily, it doesn't seem to bother him.
We also had some concerns to ask the doctor about in regards to Evan's right foot and walking.  His right foot turns severely out (like ballet position) and drags sometimes when we walk with him.  Evan's physical therapist is coming back out and wants to take a look at it.  We showed the doctor and she seemed to be concerned with the severity as well.  So off we go to Children's Orthopedics.  I want to get the physical therapist out first to see if his abnormal gait is something we can correct with exercises!  But, if she feels we need to see the specialist...we will do anything and everything for our little guy.

All else looked great!  She recommended we stay away from peanut butter...opps...luckily Evan had no reaction and absolutely loved it!  And she recommended Evan stay rear facing...ya another whoops.
And we had Evan's 1 year pictures made by a good friend that I grew up with!  She lives in the Charleston, SC area and did a fantastic job!  I can't wait to get all the photos!

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Monday was a First!  Evan's 1st Baseball Game....of many I am sure!
Monday Night we headed to Cool Ray Field for The Gwinnett Braves Baseball Game.

And we got 4 extra tickets...so we invited some of our favorite friends!
Even though we all love baseball...we really went to cheer on another favorite friend, Lauren, as she sang the national anthem!
Unfortunately, there was about an hour rain delay....

But it was well worth the wait to see Lauren perform LIVE!

I look forward to many, many more baseball games with my kiddos in the summer's to come!

12 Months Old

  • Evan is 1 year old!!!! Wow!
  • Evan weighs between 18-19 lbs.  We have his check up with Dr. Evans next week, so we will get all his stats!
  • Evan wears size 3 or 4 diapers.
  • Evan wears 12 month clothes and size 2 shoe.
  • Evan DOES NOT sit still anymore.  He is crawling like a pro and is so happy now that he can get to things on his own.
  • Evan is pulling up to standing position.  He does great in his crib and bath tub, but is still working on other things like the couch or coffee table.  Every day he seems to get better and stronger.
  • Evan has started to push some toys...very slowly.
  • Evan likes to practice getting off the couch feet first on his tummy.
  • Evan loves to try and stand on his own.  He falls quickly, but I think it is so good that he is trying.  Zach said he has stood by himself for a couple second!
  •  Evan is an amazing eater!  He eats everything...but we finally found something he doesn't prefer...hot dogs.
  • Evan LOVES his milk.  He usually gets a some milk in the morning (when I remember) and ALWAYS gets a bottle at night.  We never miss milk at night!
  • Evan still whines ridiculously when he is hungry or sees food.  Wish this could stop!
  • Evan drinks from sippy cups and out of straws great!  And he loves water!
  • Evan is feeding himself which has been such a great milestone to hit!  And he loves to sit in his highchair!
  • Evan is a great little traveler.  For his birthday, Grandma and Grandaddy got him his new carseat and he has loved being turned around.  The first couple rides, he was silent because there was so much more to see!
  • Evan is such a happy, chill kid.  Really the only time he cries is when he is tired or sees his bottle or food.
  • Evan loves his pacie still.  I am trying to limit the pacie to bedtime and in his carseat...and Mass.
  • Evan is extremely curious and loves to crawl all over the house.  Favorite spot...the bathroom!  He loves Zoe's potty which is not cool, so the door stays closed.
  • Evan loves sleeping with his train blankie!
  • Evan talks a lot and has finally started to say the "ma ma" sound!
  • Evan hums and sings a lot too.
  • Evan's favorite toy is his pretend drum (a old baby wheels can and a play skewer).
  • Evan loves to pull everything off the coffee table or couch now.
  • Evan has started to pick up something off the ground while standing.  This was really hard for him for awhile, but he has finally gotten it!
  • Evan hates getting his diaper changed because it makes him stop for a second.  He wants to be going all the time.
  • Evan LOVES bath time!  He could care less if water is all over him and in his face...he loves splashing and crawling in the water.  He now pulls up on the side of the tub and plops himself back in the water making a big splash...he giggles and does it all over again!
  • Evan puts everything in his mouth...so small toys have been put up.
  • Evan has green eyes.
  • Evan has very sensitive skin and breaks out with little acne.
  • Evan has two bottom teeth.
  • Evan has brown hair and shows no sign of getting lighter.
  • Evan loves to cuddle...anytime he sees a pillow, he goes straight to it and lays down.
  • Evan loves to play with Zoe and they can entertain each other really well lately.
I can't believe this kid is 1!  Every second of this year has been such a joy and learning experience.  I just love this little guy so much and he has been the perfect addition to our family.  I can't imagine life without him and I am so grateful to God for this perfect gift!

This post really needs no words.
Evan LOVES cake!
He has his game face on...he is ready!

Wait...where did it go!?!  I wasn't done with that!

Evan's 1st Birthday Party

Friday night, we celebrated Evan's 1st birthday...{insert tears}! I can't believe this year has come and gone and my baby is a year old!

A couple months ago, I was browsing the dollar spot at Target and came across all this anchor/nautical themed items and just loved the colors!  And thought it would be perfect for Evan's Birthday Party!  Everything turned out wonderfully and we had so much fun celebrating with family and friends!
Zelda and Holly made the cakes!  Aren't they precious and oh so delicious!

Here are the favors for the kiddos...the big kids got red and blue twizzlers and the babies got goldfish!

I also love Riverside Pizza, which is where we ordered dinner for everyone....you can't beat $5.99 for a large pizza!
The Birthday Boy in his Anchor Bathing Suit ready to greet his guests and get the party started!

Boy would I love to know what was so interesting!  I can't believe how big all of our "babies" are getting!
 Boys picking on girls...
 Girls picking on boys....

And then it was time for cake....
